What is the living situation?
The house has a capacity of 62 members with 3 or 4 men per room. Each person in a room gets a desk, shelves, desk chair, and a wardrobe closet. We sleep in a different room than which we study which are cold airs or as we call them, the pads. One of the nicest things about living in FarmHouse verses a dormitory or apartment is that you have free range of the entire house which includes study rooms, living rooms, our own kitchen, computer lab, TV room, and even more. So you could say that we get more bang for our buck.
I heard about the "four fold", what is that?
In FarmHouse we have a four fold of virtues that we try to live by and always be improving upon. They include Spiritual, Social, Physical, and Intellectual. Every semester we each set goals on how to improve ourselves in each area.
Who prepares food and how do meals work?
Our meals are catered by Hy Vee for lunch and dinner during the week and for breakfast we always have cereal, eggs, bagels and other breakfast food available. Also, on Sundays we have donuts in the morning and at night we grill burgers. Most guys in the house like to eat out on the weekends, make their own food at the house, or eat leftovers from the week.
I heard we sleep in cold airs, what are they and how cold does it get?
Cold airs is a community sleeping room. One of the nicest things about sleeping in cold airs is that if we stay up late studying in our rooms we don't have to worry about keeping our roommates up since they are sleeping in another room. They are called cold airs because the windows are always open, which makes it get pretty cold during the winter. The reason for this is that the cold air prevents the spread of colds and other flu bugs. To stay warm many guys use multiple layers of sheets including heating blankets.
As far as area of studies, what are the dynamics of the house?
The graphic shown below reveals the breakdown for all 79 men for Spring 2010 by primary college of enrollment, which doesn't factor in the colleges for 2nd or 3rd majors. Essentially, FarmHouse men have excelled and will continue to excel in any of Iowa State's six Colleges.

I heard that FarmHouse sings a lot, am I required to sing to join the fraternity?
That is true, FarmHouse is known for its singing ability. You are not required to be a great singer to join, however we encourage our members in participating in serenades. Serenades consist of going to sorority houses and entertaining the ladies for their listening and viewing pleasure.
How do the house bills compare to living in the dorms?
Currently House bills for each semester are approximately $3,100, which is cheaper than most dorm rooms (click here for current ISU residence hall rates). As with the dormitories, this figure will probably increase with the rising costs of living. Additionally, the house bill includes free laundry, parking, 24 hour kitchen, and full social calendar. We are always working hard to keep our house bills as low as possible.
